Some of the other great features are:

* Includes a quick snap buckle on both the shoulder and belly straps to make it easier to get the harness on and off the dog.

* It’s made of a durable, soft nylon with four adjustable points that provide maximum comfort and a reliable fit.

* The belly strap is a different color so you can see quickly which strap goes over the shoulders and which goes under the belly.

* The closure tightens slightly across the chest and shoulder blades when the dog attempts to pull forward, never causing coughing, gagging or choking.

What’s the worst thing about taking your pup for a walk? The ugly task of cleaning up after him when nature calls. Well, since about 2003, I’ve been using the best product ever to handle this. It’s called Dispoz-A-Scoop, made by Healthpro. If you hate using a plastic bag, the ‘feel’ on your hand (like I do), you will love the Dispoz-A-Scoop. This is the gold standard of pooper scoopers, a device that basically is a disposable cardboard square that supports a black plastic bag held open by a square wire frame that retracts into the cardboard handle (which has a punch-out hand-hole). Just scoop, press down to seal, and toss.

Some of the great benefits of this product are:

  • It’s completely sanitary and features a patented, self-sealing closure to ensure clean, odor-free disposal.
  • It’s friendly to the environment with a biodegradable plastic bag with a rigid cardboard frame.
  • The bags have an airtight, waterproof seal, so if the bag gets wet, durability is not affected.
  • The frame is low carbon wire, so it will oxidize and self-destruct.
  • Easy to carry, they are flat until you are ready to use them.

I have a very large Golden Retriever named Koda. He gets walked three times a day and I would never go out without a Dispoz-A-Scoop bag. I’ve used them for years, with our first Golden, Bailey, and I’ve continued to use them ever since. They are convenient, easy and very green by today’s standards. The only problem I’ve ever encountered is that sometimes, either the wire comes out, so you can’t close it or the cardboard handle won’t go down, so you can’t close it. Out of a box of 250, I would say it happens maybe twice. Still a very small price to pay for this wonderful product.

There are lots of retailers that sell these, but the cheapest I’ve found is Petsmart.com. You can actually get a 4 or 6 pack in the store to try them out but if you’re ready to be a steady user, buy the 250 pack. Petsmart offers a flat rate shipping discount, which will bring your total to around $76. I can’t say enough good things about this product. Once you try it, you’ll be hooked too.
